I just wanted to hear some thoughts...so post the following:

What keeps YOU going? What gives you the drive to keep pushing and doing better for the SAT, school, tests, projects, job, whatever? What is your motivation to make your self work harder and not just give up?

And another important one -
What stops you from being LAZY?

Btw...don't give answers like "my parents will yell at me if I don't keep working", "I'll get in trouble" or "My laziness helps me to do well", however true those may be. :)

Okay let's hear the ideas/thoughts!

What I do - I think about how bad it would be and how much of a dissapontment it would be if I don't get what I want in the future just because I didn't work. I think about what a shame it would be if I had everything, the time, the materials, a brain - but I didn't put them to use in the right way and will end up like working n McDonalds and not going to college or something if I don't put in some effort. I know...pretty extreme, but it works.

I’m like you. It’s just what you have to do so do it! Or else you’ll regret it and wonder why you didn’t study before! Or I’ll picture getting rejected from every college I apply to and it really makes me move :p

What keeps me going? Many factors motivate me. My parents are one. They are my role models. My parents don’t push me very hard, but I look up to them as they are both very accomplished.

My peers are another source of motivation - I personally know a person who scored a 2400.

I also happen to immensely enjoy studying :).

I no longer have any motivation. I’m a Senior in high school this year (school just started for me) and I am number 2 in my class of over 200. I have just come to realize that there is no point in me trying so hard. I’m going to the University of Arizona on a full scholarship anyway. I am done with the SAT, the ACT, and I’m taking three AP classes this year. But there’s really no point in me putting all this stress on myself because as an Arizona resident, I am already guaranteed a place at my school. Sooooo I think I’m done with trying.

What makes me try is basically a love of learning. xP

I like to challenge myself beyond my normal school curriculum and that’s I bother self-studying. I want something to show for my efforts. I don’t like doing things just to please others (parents, admissions officers), but it’s a sort of self-motivation. I know that if I didn’t go to college, I could just sell donuts with my uncle, but I need to put in some effort before I conceed my life to that.
