What's YOUR game plan? What keeps you going?

I just wanted to hear some thoughts...so post the following:

What keeps YOU going? What gives you the drive to keep pushing and doing better for the SAT, school, tests, projects, job, whatever? What is your motivation to make your self work harder and not just give up?

And another important one -
What stops you from being LAZY?

Btw...don't give answers like "my parents will yell at me if I don't keep working", "I'll get in trouble" or "My laziness helps me to do well", however true those may be. :)

Okay let's hear the ideas/thoughts!

What I do - I think about how bad it would be and how much of a dissapontment it would be if I don't get what I want in the future just because I didn't work. I think about what a shame it would be if I had everything, the time, the materials, a brain - but I didn't put them to use in the right way and will end up like working n McDonalds and not going to college or something if I don't put in some effort. I know...pretty extreme, but it works.

My game plan:
Go to a CC first 2 years and pick my major. (Mechanical Engineering)
Transfer over to either UCSB, UCLA, UCB, or CAL Poly.
Finish remaining 2 years. Get my Bachelor’s in ME.
If possible(budget-wise)…pursue my Masters and branch into either Dynamical Systems/Robotics or Computational Science…after all of this, fine a nice 10/10 babe who can cook to settle down with.

What keeps me going? Howard Wolowitz from The Big Bang Theory inspires me for some reason…oh and just trying to be an improvement on the mediocre livestock that is the Hispanic race.

What stops me from being lazy?
Nothing yet, still got 1 more year of High School.

The thought of getting a rejection letter from a college i rly wanted to go to

My Father immigrated to the United States from a third world country to give his children a better life.

The thought of disappointing my Father keeps me from being lazy, and keeps me “going”.

Prove to people that Black people can be intelligent.

Jokes aside

What really keeps me going is that…well…Life is meaningless.

There is something beautiful about this fact. It makes me want to strive to give meaning to myself in an otherwise meaningless existence.

This also helps me get past setbacks.

@RoysGoin2College: What do you mean by the “mediocre livestock that is the Hispanic Race”?

^

He thinks his race is inferior.

It’s common for people who care about what other people think.

Aye man…i kid.
It’s mainly because I live in a very thuggish neighborhood.
Consisting of my fellow Hispanic bros.

Lol.

Aint nothin to be SHAMED OF MAN
EMBRACE TUS HERMANOS

la vida es lo que hacen

I don’t know what you meant by that, but it didn’t sound good. And since I am half Spanish, I’d like to tell you to watch yourself. You’re stereotyping and are on the verge of racism. Oh and to your “fellow Hispanic bros”, it sounds like you consider yourself Hispanic? And if you are then like madogmgd said, “embrace tus hermanos”, don’t say unproved crap like the “mediocre livestock that is the Hispanic Race”.

Especially since the Hispanic Race is rich in culture and far from Mediocre, my friend.

my gameplan:
Finish my last 2 years of high school, go to a UC(UCI, UCSB, UCSD, UCD, UCSC, or UCR since UCLA and UCB are kinda unlikely right now) and major in mechanical or electrical engineering, get a degree and all that stuff, get a good job, and get a nice woman.

After the BBT reference, you are my hero. Aside from that I’m naturally incredibly competitive so other people I guess?

Mediocre isn’t even bad man.

get a math degree hopefully. Do some research related to aging. Live around to see the singularity (intelligence explosion) or other transformative event. Living through it would be a plus.

Usually a homemade cup of coffee helps…

To me, life is a game to be played. I have and will continue to learn new ways to manipulate the playing field for myself and others who are as passionate as myself. Basically, I want to live like James Bond and father many children across the globe (lol). To do that, I need to be smart and industrious. “Carpe Diem, Carpe Noctem.”
