What's your idea of "Senioritis"?

As a new school year starts (mine in a week :( ) many of us are going to be seniors. Although we want to keep our grades up for 1st semester, many of us tend to slack off the 2nd half of the year. How do you think you will be once you get senioritis?

As a potential engineer who is taking way too many math/science classes senior year, my "senioritis" would be getting a B in AP Lit (wow I'm such a try hard...). I wouldn't dare get a B in math/science, and the rest of my classes are music related.

I’m an incoming Junior, so I’m kind of irrelevant to this conversation for another year, but oh well. When I think of senioritis, I think of this one “school legend” at my school that was an absolute genius. (It’s a small school.) He was a senior during my freshman year, and we were in the same AP Human Geography class. He was smart alright, but he was the laziest person I knew, not turning in homework and relying on tests to keep "A"s in most of his classes. I guess when senior year started, he just stopped making an effort. He probably would’ve been Valedictorian instead of Salutatorian if he actually tried.

As for myself, I have the small hope that I won’t be effected by the brutal epidemic. Lol, I can dream.

studying only in school basically, doing hw in study halls/lunch mainly

@foolish There was this one time sophomore year that I did my first period homework before school started, my second period homework on the way to that class, my third period homework in second period, my fourth period homework in third period, and my sixth period homework at lunch. In my defense I accidently fell asleep as soon as I got home the night before.

@awakeningvenus That’s pretty boss. I would only do that if the early morning before, I decided to get some sleep- and I would only save the homework that I can do a period before.

Looking forward to coming home and having a few hours to do whatever I want without regret for the first time in forever.

I felt like I had senioritis because I procrastinated all the time and skipped some classes and failed a lot of quizzes. My grades didn’t actually drop very much in my senior year because I was taking all college classes and I worried about the grades because they’ll follow me forever, but I did get an A minus in creative writing. :)

Lol i never did my AP gov hw like ever last year. I procrastinated so bad on my senior project. Luckily all my other classes were easy because multivar was first semester (i took cryptography second semeseter). Geosystems was a joke anyways and the rest of my classes were music (AP music theory, wind ensemble, jazz band).

1st semester senioritis: “Everyone in my class has a car and comes in late so it doesn’t really matter if I sleep in a little.” “I could be doing something better than this busy work!!! I have ten college essays to write!!!” (blows off busy work and ends up doing nothing productive). “To study for last ever SAT retake or to look online for homecoming dresses? Homecoming it is!” “Junior year was not hell so I could sit at home and study all weekend!” (goes out on saturday night and feels profoundly rebellious despite the fact you weren’t gonna do homework anyways). “Well, it’s kind of cold up there anyways” (crosses college off list because too lazy to write the essays). -later in the semester- “You know undergraduate technically doesn’t even matter so I could do nothing for the rest of the year and just go to (already accepted EA safety).” (does work anyways but cares slightly less about grades).

2nd semester senioritis: “everyone’s a peasant I’m getting out of here asap peace out”

I had really bad senioritis during the winter (I decided I was reapplying to schools in the spring so that “cured” it)… My grads remained the same during the winter, but it was more of just general apathy. I couldn’t bring myself to want to do anything (at least, anything school-related). It took so much effort to get the motivation to go to school in the morning, I hated it so much. (My school runs on a trimester system fyi)

I feel like it will be me dropping every single AP class come 2nd semester…but I won’t really do it :D

Procrastinating( spelling wrong I think lol)

Lmao senioritis… I’ve had it since like, 8th grade. So not much will be different, I guess. For the first two weeks of school, I’ll take diligent notes, study, and sleep early. After that, I’ll fall into my usual self-destructive routine of not doing homework (or doing it on the way to school), cramming for quizzes the period before, and being all LOL there’s a test today? in every class.
I am a lazy, lazy, person.

Sleeping in class, maybe pull a Ferris Buehler haha. We’ll see though, I’m definitely excited.

Senioritis is sort of a stupid concept for any college bound kid. slacking off is not a good idea if you’re going to be doing 4 more years of school.

I’ve heard my high school teachers complain about senioritis and how it is a horrible idea for incoming college students, but from my experience, it does linger into college but only lasted me about 3 weeks to get back into shape as I probably was adjusting too.

It isn’t uncommon for smart students to perform Senioritis, because there are better things to learn than what high school throws at us, so BS almost all homework, Sparknote books, not take notes during lectures… Get away with what you can when you can.
