and of course, Pomona (high reach) - could be awhile...!
oh, and Pepperdine (safety, I hope) - don't know, don't care (not to be mean, just not interested after learning more about the school)

*7 more to go!

whoa, those **** on Middlebury, all I said, well, started with "p" and ended with "ss" lol. Didn't think it'd get bleeped out, but just so y'all know I wasn't being nasty!

Want to tell the story about how you ticked off your interviewer?

Wow.. this thread made me realize that the dartmouth decisions will be avaiialbe online... sweet! thanks :)

I, too, want to hear the story about your interview..

My own list:

Stanford - rejected EA
Claremont McKenna - accepted (verbally) w/ scholarship
Williams - accepted (early-write)
WashU - waitlisted
Carleton - accepted
Georgetown - accepted
Pomona - in the mail (expecting on Monday)
UPenn / Dartmouth / Yale - ONLINE 5PM on March 31
Harvard - EMAILED 5PM on March 31
Princeton/Amherst - mailed early April

Congratulations !Great choices Raven. What is your first choice?Sun or snow?

Hey Arizonamom,

Thanks for the compliment. Right now, Williams is looking pretty good. I was also just offered the Flinn, which certainly makes things more complicated...! As of now, I'm still trying to weigh my options...

EDIT: Sun or snow? I would MUCH prefer sun, but I visited CMC and didn't care for it... I also visited Carleton in Feburary and found it bearable. Though I'm a warm-blooded Arizona wimp, I think I could handle the weather anywhere (though it is a consideration!) :)

Ahh, the Flinn is amazing, would be very hard to turn down, I think I know who you are and I was very happy to hear you got it, well deserved...just figured it out when I looked at your list...Stanford is nuts!!!

Heh, thanks... The fact that Stanford rejected me (as opposed to a deferral) had me worried for awhile, but thankfully other schools feel differently. :) I still fail to understand how I can be so wanted on one-end of the spectrum (i.e. Williams Early-Write) and yet rejected flat out at the other.

I guess a bit of randomness is just the nature of the beast!

This isn't as very exciting story, lol. But, here's what happened:
Last summer, i went on a little college trip, visited a bunch of schools for tours & interviews. At Midd, I had an interview scheduled for, I believe it was 11, and I went on a tour from 10-11, that was supposed to get me back to the office at 11. Now, I can' remember if they said anything about this at Midd, but at literally every single other school (Williams, Dartmouth, Amherst, BC, MIT, etc), they make a point of telling kids w/ interviews to go to their interview as soon as the tour was over, and if they were a bit late b/c the tour was late, it wasn't a big deal & obviously wasn't the fault of the kids.
So, i arrived at Midd, signed in or whatever, told the secretary that I had an interview at 11, and then left for the tour. Well, we got back around 11:15 (don't remember if it started late or just went long). And, when i got back, I told my interviewer (a rather stuffy older woman) that the tour had just ended. And, she was obviously annoyed, and made a point of telling me that she'd been waiting for me for 15 minutes, and now would only be able to conduct less than half of the interview. I think it's kinda petty, but she was quite peeved.
Anyway, i honestly am sure that isn't the only reason i didn't get in (GPA/rand isn't where it should be, not enough APs, etc).
Well, that is my story!

raven, what didn't you like about CMC. My D applied there as well. but never spent a night on campus. Was it the physical campus , student body? Just curious.

Hey Arizonamom,

I really can't put my finger on what I didn't like at CMC. I've visited twice and I really WANTED to like CMC, but both times the place just didn't "feel right" to me. That's an entirely personal reason, so I hope C won't discount CMC until she visits.

I guess I should also share some of the more tangible things that I didn't care for:

Kids trashing the campus
(people throwing lots of empty bottles and boxes in the bushes because they know the janitors will clean up after them.. sure enough, the next morning everything was spotless. As the school ALSO provides room-cleaning, someone remarked that "CMC Kids are spoiled and they don't even know it!")

The president was unimpressive
(The president of CMC did my interview, and the impression she made was underwhelming. Apparently none of the students like her either, but she is good at fundraising...)

The CMC inferiority complex
It felt like CMCers were always telling me "We're just as good as Pomona, you know!"

It's also worth mentioning that my host was a stereotypical athletic recruit (underqualified academically and obsessed with partying), so that may have distorted me perspective somewhat. Also, living in "North Quad" (the party quad) may have contributed to my negative impressions.

CMC has a lot of things going for in, including Snack (the free late-night energizer), the Ath (a chance to hear great speakers), the 5C resources, and a great program in business/economics/poly-sci. Also, I love the politically active the campus (supposedly) is.

Again, I hope C doesn't discount it without an overnight visit. For me, though, it just didn't "feel" right.

Thanks raven, food for thought!
