what's your opinion of Judas- Lady Gaga

I just heard it and I was wondering how the people on this site interpret it. I honestly was a little confused at first (I'm terrible with crafty metaphorical poetry songs), but found it interesting after listening to it. Since CC seems to have a fairly good mix of the 'religious' and the 'not so religious' I thought this song would make a good topic. I (agnostic-ish) found it interesting and catchy, while my devout Christian friend found it sacrilegious and nauseating.

Any other musings?

Judas: Back-stabber
Lady Gaga: Ear-stabber

Wait, is that what you were asking?

Wherever there is an opinion to be made, BillyMC can always be found with his peculiar brand of pseudo-wit ready for action.

Personally, I loved Lady Gaga before this album. Now, I’m just ehh. Judas is way better than born this way. I hated it when it came out but took a second listen and will probably be addicted within the week. I’ve already been addicted to Love Game, Paparazzi, Bad Romance, and Alejandro. :/

As a fan of her first two albums, I must say that I’m disappointed with the turn she’s taking. There is no use in being “unique” and “different” from everyone else if you’re just going to keep making songs that sound the same. The meaning behind the song is irrelevant - it’s supposed to be a “catchy” pop song. Controversy is what she wants, but she’s not going to achieve it on a successful level by writing a song about how “I’m in love with Judas, baby” because she’s not Marilyn Manson.

It’s just a bad career move on her part. Judas should have been scrapped, because a hit power ballad from the Lady is quite overdue. It’s what needed to happen to redeem herself from the utterly pointless Born This Way. Speaking of that particular cop-out, there can be no significant success granted to a “new” anthem if the song already existed.

Lady Gaga is the devil.

Thank you for your time.

When GaGa first came out in 08’ I herd her before she was popular and saw potential. Her first album was good, her second was better. But now, it seems like she’s tries to be too much to be like Madonna. Ever since Alejandro, she’s been copying her a bit too much. Raising controversy with the Catholic church is something Madonna did also many, many times. Gaga used Judas a back stabber as her lover, even though he’s bad but Jesus the good guy is her virtue. So it seems like its a girl with the nice guy, but she’s falling for a bad guy, cause girls like bad guys.

The second album was better. It sounded a bit more polished a musical maturity. But the last few tracks on the first album were good, but way too pop.

I was making a joke, outlining your similarities with Hipster Kitty. Don’t look too much into it, I haven’t heard her albums.

BillyMc - You’re a Tumblin, aren’t you?

Don’t know what that means, sorry. Just recently discovered these types of humorous internet posters.

Ahh. Well, if anyone would like to know, most things such as “Hipster Kitty” come from the community of the multimedia blogging/networking site Tumblr. You should join us. We have delicious pastries and all the internet memes you could ever want. =)

^Isn’t Tumblr like Hipster central, I had one then stop using it as much as I used to.

[Speaking of Hipster cats.](http://■■■■■■■.com/3k7vmvx)

@27dreams She wrote Judas deliberately to sound like Bad Romance as homage to her signature style; however, she stated that most of the other new songs are different.

My response to Judas was similar to Born This Way:
After the first listen: Uh, what? I’m not really into this.
After several more listens: Aww yeah, that’s what I’m talking about.

Judas is incredibly similar to Bad Romance. Her chord progression in the chorus is similar, the ah-ahs are similar, the structure is similar, etc. I’m starting to wonder if she’s satirizing people who compare her songs to others (i.e. Christina Aguilera’s Not Myself Tonight and Bad Romance).

The song is awesome though. I’ve been listening to it on repeat the past few days.

As for the message, I don’t fully understand the whole religious aspect. It’s somewhat ironic that Catholic groups are criticizing her when she went to Catholic school herself.

Anyway, I’m not gonna read much into the message in this one (versus Born This Way, which has a positive message) and just enjoy the dance beat :)

Lol@listening to lady gaga

Are you sure you know what ‘ironic’ means?

This video is kinda hilarious and it’s on the topic of the song, so I’ll go ahead and post the link:
[YouTube - Lady Gaga’s “Judas” is EVIL!!!](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

This girl’s basically bashing the song and saying Lady Gaga’s the devil. Hilarious stuff.

Edit:
Hahah, I’m listening to her right now, and I can’t with this. There’s just too much funny stuff that she says, quotable material.

Lady Gaga loves to use metaphors in her music and Judas is just another example. The only reason people get riled up about it is that they look at it in a literal sense. Once a Christian hears anything that may have anything to do with religion it becomes a big deal. To be honest, I think she made a good move using Judas as the theme of her song… it sure did get it publicity. The song is simply about knowing right but being tempted by wrong. She knows Judas is not trustworthy and a “rebel” in a sense, but she still finds herself in love with him. It’s a very common theme, but the fact that it involved Judas all of a sudden makes it controversial. I was raised Catholic and think it’s a great song (as are most of her songs). People just need to settle down.

Hahahahaha Thank you for this…
