I was wondering which undergraduate major is most ideal for people who want to pursue business and eventually graduate school?

That is so broad and ambiguous. Wow.

I'm going to business school with a degree in engineering.

I have a friend who got into Michigan's business school with a degree in biology.

My cousin just graduated from Carnegie Mellon's business school with a degree in English.

You can major in anything. The important thing is that you do well. Obviously the most common major would be business, but that is not a necessity.

Just major in what interests you.

There's no requirement on what major b-schools accept. The adcom likes to diversify their class. My best advice is to find a major you love - think about what your interests are first because that makes you a more interesting person! What's also going to count is your work experience, leadership, community involvement, travel, life experience, and oh yeah, the GMAT.

Good luck.

MBA Podcaster

I'm graduating from UCLA Anderson and I did my undergrad in Biology with a minor in psych.

My 3 roommates are also graduating from Anderson this year. One majored in Electrical Engineering, one in Chemistry, and one did a double in Poli Sci and Film.

Question!

If I major in what I love...how do you get post-graduate required to eventually apply to an MBA program?

Hypothetically, I major in...anthropology, or whatever, how do I get a job in the business field with this type of degree?

you dont need to be on wallstreet or in the finance area to apply to MBA programs. You just have to show work ethic and management skills in the job you do.

hypothetically speaking... what if you wanted to run your own anthropology firm (doing what I have no idea)?

you'll need some business knowledge, hence the MBA. hence the reason MBA's accept such a broad range.

oooohhh, so the 'work experience' doesn't necessarily have to be business experience? It could be any work experience in any field?

philosophy. Boo yah! :D

Yes. I know a kid who worked for a small boat engineering company. He eventually decided to raise money for a bike ride across the country for charity. He is now enrolled in MIT's MBA/MS program...
