wheaton? you sure?

OMG, last month I met some chinese students who decided to go to wheaton. They were just so excited about everything of wheaton!!! I cannot bear anymore. To be honest, wheaton is at the bottom of my college list. I've never imagined that I WILL GO TO WHEATON. Regardless of ranking, most chinese students I knew had 90 (toefl scores). How can I assure wheaton will present me with an excellent academic field??

My future is totally screwed up!!!

just transfer out like i did  hahaha

OP, I can’t figure out what your gripe is.
A–Is it that you have an issue with Chinese students?
B–If Wheaton is at the bottom of your list, why go?
C–Is there an ounce of logical flow in what you say?

WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO TELL US (in standard English, please?)

Lemonade 1201,
Hello from the Wheaton College Admission Office. I’d like to suggest that you consider the success of Wheaton students and graduates before settling on the conclusion that your “future is totally screwed up!!!” College rankings do not capture many of the intangible aspects of each institution’s academic programs, and they fail to measure the outcome of the college experience. Wheaton students and graduates consistently perform on the level of the highest ranked liberal arts colleges in national academic scholarship competitions.

Each student creates his or her own college experience through course selection, work ethic and willingness to take advantage of opportunities. The only students whose futures may be “totally screwed up” are those who do not make the most of the opportunities presented to them, regardless of which college or university they attend.

Welcome to the Class of 2015 at Wheaton and please come with enthusiasm to embrace the many ways Wheaton can help you reach your potential.

I agree with Amy. Your College experience is what you make of it and Wheaton will provide numerous opportunities for you to grow and learn. In Fact, I almost chose to go to Wheaton over University of Virginia, Wake Forest and other “top schools”. For integration of Christian faith and top notch academics, there is no place better than Wheaton.

Skater Girl–

You got the wrong Wheaton. This page discusses the liberal arts college in Massachusetts, not the Christian school in Illinois.

Easy misktake.

I am a faculty member at a very prestigious school (ranked internationally by The Guardian as one of top five universities in the world). I am also the parent of a Wheaton student. Wheaton is an exceptional liberal arts college that emphasizes teaching and faculty contact with students. It is an outstanding school, and even though I mentioned rankings, as the person from the admissions office stated, don’t trust rankings. Schools can do things to artificially inflate their US News Rankings. Indeed, the creator of the rankings, Jim Fallows, has completely disavowed them.

For a student who wants an intimate but rigorous education within the structure of a classic New England liberal arts college, Wheaton is an excellent choice.

Hi, do you have an opinion on chances to get into Wheaton? GPA 3.1, 1500 SAT, 26 ACT. Thanks!
