When a Scholarship Asks for "Financial Need"...

I am currently applying for a scholarship and there is an optional area to include information about my “financial need.” What exactly should I say? Should I give specific details regarding how much I will have to pay per year? Or does more general info, such as having a sibling in college as well and income bracket, more along the lines of what I should say? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Do you qualify for needs based scholarships? The details will surely have some kind of assessment criteria.

One simple way to calculate financial need would be the difference between CoA and your EFC. While the financial gap is the need after financial aid applied.

@Sybylla @billcsho I do qualify for need based aid but the scholarship merely wants me to include my financial aid as part of my essay. Should I just straight up say how much my tuition is or should I be more discreet is what I ask? Like, instead of giving my tuition cost or EFC, should I just say something along the lines of “I have a sibling already in college and this scholarship would assist my parents in paying for my tuition as well”?
