What's the deal with this? I got an 800 on my SAT W section but a 760 + 710 on CR and M, so I would actually benefit greatly if my writing score was to be considered.

The deal is simple: some schools don’t care about SAT 1 Writing scores. Seems pretty self-explanatory, mang.

Some schools just simply don’t use it, or others see the score but the majority of the weight is placed on the other two sections. For instance, W&M primarily uses CR+M because it believes that your writing skills are best shown through the essays you write through common app and its supplements, not a 25 minute timed essay on a standardized test.

The majority of schools do consider writing, so that will be to your advantage as you have good scores

What about a school like Cornell?

you guys stress to much

Cornell does not use the W score.

Most schools do not use the W score.

I believe that the SAT is going to take out that section soon, so that’s another reason why schools ignore it.

Don’t worry, your M+CR is very good.
