@americanpatriot i wonder IF more BA acceptances will come out…sure hope so

My daughters friend just got wait listed today. Major business admin. Stats very good.

@Tahlula do you mind me asking what her stats were? I’m still waiting for business administration.

@Brendini Jesus Christ you are kidding me

who DID they accept?

my son was waitlisted for Architecture on Monday.

wGPA - 4.17
ACT - 29 (33 on science/34 on math)

I called admissions for more information, but they were not helpful at all…

That’s just crazy that Brendini didn’t get in!

I’m starting to think that the students with stellar GPAs and SAT scores who have been waitlisted or denied may not have fulfilled the A-G requirements to the extent that Cal Poly wants. Maybe they don’t have the number of semesters required, which are more than what most CSUs ask.

Look here for the selection criteria:
[How to Apply - Admissions - Cal Poly](<a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions)

For instance, maybe some of them did not take 8 semesters of a foreign language…

Also, the GPA Cal Poly looks at is the GPA in college prep classes.

Or maybe some of the students’ high SAT scores they are reporting are from after November and they don’t count.

Maybe the waitlisted/denied students are including coursework or GPAs from 9th or 12 grades.

Maybe they do not have work experience in their major.

I’m just trying to find some reasons for the waitlisting, etc. compared to other students who have been accepted and, on the surface, seem to have lower stats.

In any case, I’m sure all the students will be admitted to a college they are happy with in the end!

great point. 4 years of foreign lang, 5 years of english, 4 years of lab science…im pretty sure that high schools do not disclose these CPSLO specific req’s on their standard UC & CSU req’s handout…

Hmmm, I have only taken 6 semesters of foreign language and I have no work experience and I have not been waitlisted. And Cal Poly GPA is calculated with 9th grade included. So I’m not sure. Or maybe you’re right and I’ve already been straight up rejected. Who knows? We just have to wait and see what happens.

I got in for civil engineering with a 31 ACT and 3.75UW GPA/ 4.15W GPA. Only 6 semesters of foreign language and I have ZERO work experience in my field of study (they wouldn’t know, there is no place to put that on the application if I remember correctly).

Correction: I did email them in like January because I forgot to add a film production college course I took to my application. I also mentioned that my team had won the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Invention Challenge Competition but I don’t think they can fairly add that to my application. Who knows.

However, I do have 4 years of lab science and am a year ahead in mathematics (Algebra II Honors in 9th grade). I only have 4 years of english, though.

To: blingdoop

You are right and I stand corrected. Cal Poly SLO does indeed include 9th grade in their GPA calculation. Sorry for the confusion.

From their selection criteria: “College prep GPA Calculated by Cal Poly for 9th -11th grade coursework designated on the application (with honors points granted for courses designated as “honors,” advanced placement” or “international baccalaureate” on a high school transcript, for up to eight semesters)."

I got into Cal Poly !

My Top Choice !!!

SOOOO HAPPY !

I got in for Environmental Engineering !

omgggg congrats nik2593!!!
im really anxious to see if i get into Cal Poly too!
I also applied for Environmental Engineering [:
Do you mind if you can tell me what your stats are?? Because I want to see if I will have a chance of being accepted and you’re the first Environmental Engineer I heard of being accepted so far

Also nik2593 have you been checking regularly and they just changed it. Or was today your first time checking? Also are you a transfer or a freshman?

Has anyone heard back for English majors yet?

When are the waitlists or rejections expected?

Wow, wait listed for business admin. 3.8 gpa, 32 ACT, and African American. Many people from my school have gotten in with much lower stats

@jmcghee0216 what does being “African American” have to do with getting wait listed? Those are pretty good stats. I’m still waiting for business admin with a 3.95 and 28 ACT but my portal still said no determination has been made. When did you hear that you were wait listed?

Sometimes it helps to be a minority a little, I know colleges aren’t supposed to decide partly on race, but they want their college to be known as diverse. Anyways, I was wait listed today, checked the portal around 5.
