Yeah they’re sending them out in bunches. They sent/sending out some this week too!

^^ akwardcreation, I recognize your name from some other boards – didn’t you also apply to Fordham and/or Hampshire? Is SLC your first choice? If I’m right, and you did apply to Fordham at Lincoln Center too, why would you pick SLC over that school (if you would)? My daughter is definitely leaning toward SLC, because it is more transformative – would you agree with that?

My3Daughters, yes! I didn’t really want to go to Fordham all that much, to be honest. I applied on a whim and a fee-waiver. It’s also quite expensive, and much too traditional. I don’t like a lot of the rules that go along with the Jesuit belief system–I can respect it, but it’s not for me.

Hampshire is still a definite possibility. It’s the most likely school for me at this time, but I’m also waiting on SLC, Bard, MoHo, and Smith. I’ll have to visit whichever ones I’m admitted to and compare financial aid packages. SLC is lovely though–I only visited when the campus was empty and I had an interview, but I really love their entire paradigm. I spoke to an alumni at my interview and she solidified the school as a definite possibility.

Yes, I think their approach to education is what I always envisioned a good college education to be.
Hampshire also gave my daughter a scholarship, but Sarah Lawrence’s was the best – which I’m really shocked at, because I didn’t think they gave merit aid period. It’s now the top choice I beleive – after we already bought the Fordham T-shirt. That Lincoln Center location is to die for, but Sarah Lawrence is way less traditional, and I find that to be the selling point for my daughter. She is totaly burned out with the traditional format, though she did very well. Time for something more innovative.

Good luck where ever you go! Hampshire was a little far for my daughter’s comfort zone. If you choose that, you can go to Smith and Mt. Holyoke, too, as part of the consortium? If you end up at SLC, maybe we’ll meet!

Hello.
I wanted to ask if the acceptances also had a financial aid package? Or will they come out late?
Due to some circumstances, i had to submit my financial documents a little late. I just really really hope that it is enough because I have pretty been rejected from everywhere else…

My daughter’s acceptance came with the scholarship amount. We don’t qualify for need aid (though we sure aren’t rich), so I’m not sure how that amount is dispursed.

For accepted students and scholarships like @my3daughters, would you mind posting your stats? Congrats to you all, well deserved!!!

Sure, momster: my D has a 3.77 UW and 4.15 W GPA, 2120 SAT (National Merit Commended Student), co-editor of lit mag; co-president of photo club; successful auditions for area honor band in addition to school band; regional poetry awards. She sent samples of her poetry and I think that may have determined she was a good “fit”. Her stats got her much less merit at Fordham.

Gah, the waiting is killing me. We too got the emails and big shiny plastic enclosed brocure, the emails were addressed to me the parent trying to convince me how wonderful SLC is - they felt like they wouldn’t just send those out blindly. But who knows, sitting in MN waiting somewhat impatiently.

I was convinced that the parent correspondences had to mean something – and I turned out to be right; hope you are too!!

I’m in too Sooooo excited. International, have had my eyes on SLC since like… September? No no pretty sure it was before that.

I just hope aid works out so I could attend. Too bad I won’t get the packet till Wednesday morning hahah.

Nothing here in tx. I am guessing our chances are fading. It would be nice to just get a response one way or the other! From a stressed out dad…

When were they sent?

Oh and I’m in queens, New York. I got the email but I don’t remember getting any mail…

i got accepted on the 18th, and was also offered a dean scholarship
stats: international student (brazilian)
gpa: 8.86/10, top 10%
sat: 2110 (680 CR 710 M 720 W)
710 Math 1, 710 WH
ECs: nothing that great. one 51k-word novel in 2011 from nanowrimo. other smaller personal writing projects. two small model UN simulations (one as delegate, one as organizer/chairperson). one year of keyboard and singing lessons.
no big awards, just merit certificate for academic achievement from school (they give those to people who’ve never gotten a grade below 7.0)
interview went crazily well. the interviewer seemed very impressed with my school’s writing-focused curriculum. we got along extremely well.

I am in the same situation as you, mars94. The wait is so painful since SLC is the only school that I haven’t heard back yet. The letters were mailed on April 1st last year, so please don’t give up hope yet!

Thanks puljiun! You are right, it is very painful waiting, but I’ll try to relax if I can. Best of luck to you!!!

At this point, for me, it’d have been better to not get in. I have NO IDEA how SLC calculates need, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to work out. Getting in with poor aid is worse than not getting in – false hopes of going to one of your favorite schools are just terrible things.

I’m sorry to hear that vivacious. I can understand why that would be extra hard.

I don’t think SLC is one of those that guarantee to meet need. But even “need”, as calculated by FAFSA, is WAY off kilter.
