For instance, if UChicago claims to have a mid 50% as 32-35, does that mean 32-35 superscored or 32-35 composite.? Note: UChicago does indeed superscore.
When colleges (that superscore) post their middle 50% SAT/ACT, are that range of scores superscored?
** is that range of superscored
Vassar said at an info session that they use super scoring for reporting purposes
I assume most use superscores because it makes them look more selective.
If they use superscoring for admission that will most likely be what they publish.
The colleges that superscore generally use the superscores to report ranges. It is not really an issue of “it makes it look better.” it is simply an issue that the data being reported is supposed to be based on the actual test scores used to determine admission of those who enroll, which is the superscores for those who submitted multiple tests.
You should note, however, that the middle 50% ranges reported are typically for those who enroll and not those admitted. For many colleges, those reported middle 50% ranges may actually be somewhat lower than the 50% range of those who are admitted because many with very high scores make up a significant group of applicants admitted who choose to enroll elsewhere.
