When deferred, can we submit a new Common App?

I have been deferred to a college, and my application was moved to the regular round. I was wondering if I can submit a different common application, especially the essay part.

The short answer is No. However, you can offer additional information. Not sure if that would apply to a completely new essay, but I’d ask your college counselor OR call the college directly and ask.

As Modadunn stated, you should not send a new copy. However, you can send a list of all the activites you have done this year, an additional recommendation by a teacher, coach, et cetera, and even a letter saying, “Oh, I feel bittersweet about being deferred by College X, but I wanted you to know that you are still my top choice and/or dream school.” Don’t come off whiny, or indifferent, but sincere and respectful.

While it is not definite that these will help, it can help differentiate you from other deferred students who made no further attempts. Best of luck!
