I started when I was in ninth grade and I got a 2360 on my SAT and a 35 on my ACT.

I started in Pre-K and got a 2500 SAT and a 37 ACT.

Seriously, stop bragging on an Online Forum. No one cares.

If you want to brag, at least try not to make it too obvious…

yo I was not bragging. i know a kid who started the summer between sophomore and junior year and he got a 2400 SAT!!!

and a 36 ACT. plus, i heard people say that the SAT and ACT is luck.

Agreed wholeheartedly with 1253729. This place does seem to be a cesspool for overachievers.

Now onto the topic at hand. Studying too early and for too much time seems to me like it will do more harm than good, since it’ll consume a good deal of time and will only affect a certain part of a college application. While good scores are useful, the SAT and ACT are just a couple of the several factors that indicate your academic ability. I only started studying a couple months before the tests by meeting with a professional once a week. It seemed to work pretty well for me, although I don’t want to seem boastful.

My family lives on $18,000 year and they have to pay money for me to go to a college prep school. I have no money to go to a professional!!!

A professional isn’t necessarily required, but I found it helpful to have someone there to observe how I performed and help me improved based on their observations. With those scores, however, you should be able to go wherever you want.

I wish you luck at where ever you’re going or where ever you are at. But how much did the professional cost??

oh yeah, sorry to everyone who thought I was mean or trying to brag. I didn’t mean it.

It was expensive by the hour, but I only saw her for one hour a week over two months. For all that, it might have been a couple hundred dollars. And like I said, it’s not always necessary. I just found it helpful. Your school’s college counsellor could probably do the same at no cost.

your parents make $18k a year and send you to a prep school?

Haha I didn’t really study for the SAT.

NOW, the subject tests are a different story. The three tests I’m taking are all subjects I’ve taken in school. I started studying about May of this year in preparation for the fall examinations.

I am on a scholarship. I only pay like $400 to go there for a year. The normal cost at the school is like $8,000.

…what help are you seeking in the forum??

I started studying in 9th grade (crazy asian parents) and only got a 1770 lol

eventually when I waited jr year I got a 1960 so I’m happy I don’t think studying early helps at all. Just wait till jr year when u fully develope all ur critical thinking and reading skills.

As for the OP I would brag too if I got those scores. Hell, I’d probably get a shirt that says “I got a 2360 on my SAT and you didn’t!” lol but thats just me :P

I got crazy asian parents, too.

End of sophomore year, during the summer.
