If you put in the college codes in when you registered for ACT, does anyone know when colleges will receive those scores? Do you get notified or will you have to call admissions?

Officially, ACT (and SAT) state that it can take up to four weeks after the score is released. Both testing agencies created that official position back in the dark ages before there was such a thing as electronic transfers of scores from the testing agencies. With electronic transfer it can take up to two weeks but probably less. The “two weeks” simply defines how often ACT usually sends out electronically all scores that have been ordered – every two weeks – and one send actually goes very quickly after scores are released.

I am not aware of any colleges that actually notify you when they receive the score. Usually, if you have an on-line application account with the college (which you get when you apply via the internet), you can go into that account and whether a required test score has been received will be noted. Note, how long the college actually takes once it receives the score to note receipt in your on-line account varies among colleges. Also, many that note receipt of a score will not thereafter note on-line the receipt of any new scores – in other words, the on-line account is designed to show that the requirement of a test score has been met and if you thereafter send a retake score it will not be shown on your on-line account although they have it.

thankx. So I know there are certain colleges that you can’t send ACT scores from your high school with transcripts. When i apply next year do I just go to the ACT site and enter the college code and send reports? ( I know this may seem like a “no duh idiot” kind of question but I’m one of those people who has to be sure 100% for things as serious as this)
