When do EA early admits hear about Honors Colleges & merit aid?

My kid has started receiving acceptances from some of her EA schools.

She also is applying for some Honors Colleges and special programs and scholarships at some of these schools. Is she likely to hear anything about being accepted into or awarded those soon or will we have to wait until April in most cases?

It depends on the school. Did the applications have any info about when she will find out?

Each school should have information on their website on notifications.

Penn State, for example, says EA decisions will be out be Dec. 24, and some come in a matter of a few weeks, but Honors College decisions are March 1.

Purdue requires application with the EA application on November 1, school acceptance is January 15 and Honors College is February 15

It depends on the college and sometimes even on the student. Many colleges release honors school acceptances at the same time, but some treat them as rolling admission.

I suggest checking last year CC posts for a college of interest. This may give you an idea how things work. Also check if any decisions have been released this year.

S22 has already received an acceptance to a flagship university and its honors program. Yet the university website says that honors college decisions will be out by Mar 31, and nobody on CC has mentioned honors college for that particular university yet.

Same for scholarships (merit) as to the variability of timing by university. The sequence in our state was EA univ; rolling on honors; scholarship after. As long as you are not ED’ing anywhere, you’ll be able sort everything out in April. We did put up a housing deposit to hold a place in line for housing.
