When do financial aid packages come out?

I’m an OOS applicant, and after being accepted EA I am still waiting for a financial aid package. Money is a huge factor for me so I’m just wondering when I can expect it.

Also, what are some good scholarships you guys would suggest applying to? I’ve already applied for the LEAD scholarship and plan to apply for M-STEM.

The financial aid packages are rolling out. You should receive it within the next 2-3 weeks if you haven’t got it yet. I assume you have submitted FAFSA and CSS profile some time ago already. Did you check the WA to see if you have any document requested by the FA office? If yes, you should response ASAP or it may delay the process. Also, have you checked their NPC to get an estimate before application? If you don’t have any complicated situation, it should be quite accurate. Even the first FA notice is just an estimate. Things will change over the next few months and you will receive revised notice, for example, after the tuition rate for 2018-2019 announced in June. It may also get better but don’t count on it. My D1 did receive some grant to replace all the loan and work study in the second notice dated near the end of May 4 years ago, perhaps after they figured out the leftover money from those declined the offer by May 1.
Most of the merit scholarships would be automatically considered by applying EA and accepted early. There are not many on their website that require additional application. Make sure you have the scholarship profile updated.

@billcsho “Also, have you checked their NPC to get an estimate before application?”
I have checked it and it seems like a generous amount, but it doesn’t seem accurate according to what I am hearing.

“Did you check the WA to see if you have any document requested by the FA office?”

What does WA stand for? Wolverine Access?

“Make sure you have the scholarship profile updated.”

Can I update this through the application status portal?

Yes, it is Wolverine Access. And yes, you can update the scholarship profile there. They use that information to match the scholarships they may offer to you.
If you don’t have a complicated family financial or parents’ marital situation, the NPC is as accurate as your data input. It can be very generous even to OOS students particularly for those with less than $90k family income.

Umich has requested me to send a W-2 form (it says this on WA). Does anyone know how I have to send it?

Fax it in with your UMID on top of the page. You can also mail it in or bring it in person. The deadline is June 1, but the earlier the better.
