When do i send sat/act scores?

so say its northwestern which is common app. do i say yes to self reporting and then put in all my scoring on common app? but do i also need to send all those scores to them thru actstudent.org or collegeboard.com? bc i have like 3 act test, 3 subject tests, and 4 ap tests?
if so, do i need to do that for each school?
also, for schools that don't actually say that they want sat subject test scores, is it like good to still send them bc they see you did well on them? cos i got about 760 for all 3 of them?

I think you still have to send them through the testing agency…at least that is what I’m doing. Remember with each test you take you can send the test up to 4 schools for free, and beyond that it’s only like $10 per school.

With the subject tests, I would say send them anyways, with 760s it can only help your chances

okay thanks! if i said i took 3 act’s on common app though, does that i mean i need to send them all? cos technically i did really bad on teh first one and that had none of my high subscores or composites?

You don’t have to send official AP scores until after you are admitted and want credit for the courses. if you want college to know your AP scores for admission purposes simply report them on your application or an essay. There are a few exceptions because a small number of colleges (e.g., NYU) allow you to submit AP scores for admission in lieu of any SAT, ACT or subject test scores.

For most colleges (including Northwestern), you can send whatever official SATs or ACTs you want to send. It is easy to send a college all SAT and subject test scores because you do it in a single order. It can get expensive sending all offical ACT scores since each is a separate order. Note, even for colleges that allow to send whatever you want, you should check their stated practices because majority superscore SATs (use highest section scores from multiple tests to recreate a new total score for you) and a minority superscore ACTs, and thus you may want to send multiple test scores.

Finally, there are colleges that require you to send all scores you have so you need to check each college’s applicable rules.
