@dooblydoo Semifinalists who do not advance will be notified via a letter to their homes in January. Schools will receive notification of Finalist status first in mid-February, followed about a week later by a letter to Finalist’s home address. The paperwork says mid-February, but they usually give out a more precise mailing date as that time gets nearer. I haven’t looked lately.

@dooblydoo I looked it up. Here are the mailing dates for 2019:
February 4 NMSC mails notification to high school principals about the status of their Semifinalists;
a Certificate of Merit is provided for each Semifinalist who qualifies as a Finalist.
February 11 NMSC notifies Finalists of their status at their home addresses
