why is a -1 CR = 79…

I know…harsh

@caspiancat You are right! I went to college board and checked that. I went to the My College QuickStart and clicked on my daughter’s online score report from last year and counted all the questions wrong and they are not the same as the number listed at the My SAT StudyPlan. So using the chart at the link you posted I divided her #wrong by 3 and compared to the chart. I think that may not be exact but it’s gotta be close to what her score will be for this year. Thanks for the heads up!

No problem it’s an interesting quirk- it appears that some people have the same number as last year with a link to the 2012 scores and some have a different number. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I followed your technique, caspiancat, and mine also said missed 9 questions. Too uncanny a coincidence? Maybe 9 is just an example number or both our kids happened to miss exactly 9 questions?! Which looks like 98th percentile to my reading…

Good find, though! It does have the answer key for the 2013 test.

SoccerMom, just to clarify and make sure we’re comparing the same thing: are you counting the omitted ones too, not just the wrong ones? Because if I count just the wrong ones, the numbers don’t match, but if I include the omitted ones also in the count, they match. I have the original paper score report from 2012 and it shows 13 wrong & omitted combined. The online page still shows 13 as well.

I went back and counted and here’s what I found…the number wrong on my daughter’s My College QuickStart under the My SAT Study Plan does not match either the just wrong number or the wrong + omitted number that I count on the My Online Score Report 2012. So maybe only some of the pages have been updated.

My daughter got her PSAT results today from her school - they were hand delivered to the parents - not sure how other schools do it, but they are out. She did good - 201, but looks like that might not make the cut off according to things I have read on here - we are in the state of Florida. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated as we really have no idea what to expect. She just received her ACT and made a 32 and we were hoping for at least a Semi-Finalist/Finalist, but I don’t think that will happen. We really need scholarships so we will keep trying for a higher ACT and SAT!

Good luck everyone!

I found this link that gives the cut off for the last two years by state (look towards bottom of the link):

[National Merit Scholarships](http://www.collegeplanningsimplified.com/NationalMerit.html)

Thanks for that link, teslamom. I am in California, grrr… it is a high bar; have to score 223 to make it.

My school has already received them but apparently, according to my counselor, they will not be giving them out until after Christmas Break. Why? I have no idea and she was too busy to talk to me about it. I’ll ask tomorrow. I’d love to see them right now and not in mid-January after we come back from winter break.

I got my son’s scores, 240!

You can think of it that way, or you can think of it that your state has a strong school system!

Is anyone seeing a number other than 9 in the “questions you missed” in 2013?

congrats justong! Isn’t 240 perfect?

1203southview - “My SAT study plan” says my son missed 7 which is what he missed on the 2012 PSAT.

Yeah the PSAT Quickstart only gives last year’s results… Mine has a note on top with a bank that says “Type in your access code to see this year’s results.”

Anyways, how do you know that the cutoff in CA is 223? If so, do you know the cutoff for Texas?

a link was given above; Texas cut off is 219 for 2014.

others said the number given in quickstart for wrong answers did not correlate with their kids missed questions in 2012.

@1203southview - Thank you!

@1203southview: No that is the cutoff for the “CLASS OF 2014” meaning last year’s PSAT. This year’s PSAT cutoffs have not been announced, for they should be labeled “CLASS OF 2015”.
