When do RD decisions usually come?

S2 applied by the priority RD deadline of January 15. Anyone know how soon to hope for a response?

I received an email saying applicants usually hear by mid February.

I know it's earlier than April 1st, but it's still so far away!

Best of luck to your S2!

Dated January 18th, the email from Tom Kreiser, Director of Int'l Admissions

"XXXXXXX:

Your application materials are complete. The Admissions Committee is just beginning to review Regular Decision applications. We will review applications for three to four weeks before sending out our first admissions decisions. You should expect to hear from us about mid-February."

Not soon enough.

IzzyJ

Thanks for writing. If S2 got such an email, he has not mentioned it. Of course, that wouldn't surprise me, either, and I'll bet he did. I do know that he has a complete file as his dad called to check!

Sounds like you are really eager to hear, too! Good luck to you, and I hope the waiting is not TOO painful!

Momof3

I am definitely eager to hear! hopping Sent my stuff in my December. Bah.

And now it's the Mid-Year Report that needs to be sent. Wei...

momofthree, I hope your son has heard from Beloit. Either in an email or through the post. I just heard through an email I got accepted!! :D :D :D celebrates

I'm going to cross my fingers for your S2!

izzyj congrats for the acceptance! I saw on the international students forum that you also received a scholarship. How much money did they give you? How much did you ask for? Was it merit-based or need-based? I hope I am not indiscreet. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, maxy! :D I do hope momofthree's son has heard!

I didn't ask for how much specifically. My parents filled out CB's Int'l Student Finaid Forms and it was up to the college to decide how much to give me... Wait, lemme find the email and copy and paste. :p (Yes, just lookin' for another reason to reread the email!)

"This offer of admission carries with it a scholarship of $13,000 and campus employment of $2,000 which will be renewed in each of your years at Beloit College. Scholarship funds are limited and we are very pleased to select you among an outstanding group of applicants to receive this award. Please note, however, that Beloit's direct costs (tuition, room, board and fees) are currently $32,808, and costs for the 2006-2007 academic year will not be set until February."

I'm going to think the US$13,000/year is a merit scholarship and the campus employment is need-based... tilts head That's how I interpreted it. I mean, when I think scholarship, I think merit, you know?

maxy, where have you applied?

I applied to Beloit, as well (go figure)...and a couple other liberal arts colleges and some tier 1 schools...finaid is pretty important for me and while i like beloit very much, i need more than 50% of direct costs in scholarships/work-study/even loans....however, on their website, they specify that they don't give out more money than half...so way to go izzy!

I finally received my acceptance package (after 2.5 weeks it was sent!) and ohmygod, it's gorgeous...utterly divine... I was poring over it, and by God, I love the stickers! And the turtle! And the housing forms. Wow, I felt so psyched!

Yea IZZY!!

We have not yet heard a word, but the app was not submitted until one month ago today. I don't have any real worry about it yet, but I will let you know when S2 hears! Thanks for your concern!

Thanks, momofthree! :D

Izzy, My daughter was severely depressed when she found out she couldn't order a sweatshirt or car sticker with the turtle on it from the bookstore online. She LOVES Turtles - always has - and is just tickled that she'll be going to a college whose unofficial mascot is the turtle, where the campus is covered with Indian "turtle mounds" and where real turtles prowl. She has been designing turtle-inspired clothing for the bookstore to sell in case they don't have some already.

By the way, she read your post/thread on the live journal. She didn't know that I knew you. She came to me and in utter seriousness said, "I am starting to wonder if I'm cool enough to go to Beloit. There's this girl on the livejournal who just sounds way cooler than I'll EVER be..." When I saw who she was referring to, I cracked up big time. When I told her about you and Ugg boots -- she HATES them as well -- she was even more convinced you were some Goddess of Cool.

So, if you do end up at Beloit, you'll have to let some of your coolness rub off on my coolness-deprived daughter, OK? ;)

You're kidding. There's no turtle mascot on a sweatshirt or car sticker? Bummer... I suppose, though, having their sports emblem be the Buccaneers instead of the Turtles works, cause "slow and steady" doesn't exactly win basketball and volleyball games when it comes to humans. sigh The turtle was soooo cute.

Your daughter sounds very creative! If I do end up going to Beloit, I'd be right excited to buy one of her designs. It'll be an original Amanda...hmm..forgot if I ever knew your last name.

She read my entry on the Beloit LJ? goes to reread it Hmmm.I don't seem cool there. I seem more like my typical blabbing self. :D Though mentioning the "stains" might've been the "coolest" thing I ever did.

I'd say "small world" except it really isn't. :)

Though I do wonder if she actually read my own Livejournal. My latest entry about what I can't do under pressure. The italicized part is all made up! I swear!

If I do go to Beloit, I'll make sure to hook up with your daughter. Turtles be cool.

Izzy,
She got a big kick out of "meeting" you tonight. She said she was happy to hear there is another potential Beloiter who is just a tiny bit shorter than her. ;) Thanks for reminding us about the chat - she wished she could have stayed longer, but she figured that if she doesn't get her homework done, she might not be going anywhere next year. Keep in touch!

Izzy,

S2 got the good word yesterday!! In at Beloit!

Oooh, oooh! YAY!!!!! dances

Wicked cool! hands you and S2 lots and lots of choccies (My role at the Intel Student forum) This is sooooo awesome! Haha, my face is going to break from the huge grin!

Izzy, you are such a dear! Sending you a cyberhug!!

Hey, momofthree! I'm wondeirng if your son has gone to the Beloit Admitted Student site yet. The little traditions there are really sweet and cute! Their residential forms are really quirky and fun to fill out, though much angst trying to figure out which housing to put down!

I will check with him if I can catch up with him for a minute!!
