When do the Cal State schools begin sending out acceptance notices?

I know in December for sure do some start earlier?

No, because the application window closes on November 30th. I think December 15th is about the earliest you could expect to hear and only from some schools. I remember my son, four years ago, heard from Cal State Fullerton around mid December and my daughter, 2 years ago, heard from SDSU right before Christmas. Also, I think both Cal Polys only notify RD candidates at the same time, approximately mid to late February.

Hope that helps.

The earliest would be mid to late December and usually for High Stat applicants and will continue with rolling acceptances through April.
Sons heard from CSUF and SDSU in December, CPP in January and the rest by end of February.

What is a RD candidate?

RD = Regular Decision. Cal Poly SLO also offers Early Decision (ED) and Cal Poly Pomona may as well but you would need to check to make sure.

SDSU notified my dd before Christmas break last year.

Only Cal State with ED is SLO. All the rest are RD.

All the Cal States and Cal Polys do it differently.

The last few years SDSU notified students they identify as “honors” before Christmas, and the rest some time in February.

7 years ago, when my daughter applied to San Francisco State, they accepted her within a couple of days, and before the application window closed. All three kids ('08,'10 and '13) applied to SDSU and Cal Poly SLO. The boys heard from SDSU in December (both invited to apply for honors college) and my daughter was admitted in February. All three heard from Cal Poly SLO in Feb.

Oh, and electronic notification on the “portal” was a least a week prior to a letter in the mail.

I think it varies year to year and campus to campus. As Gumbymom notes above, the easy admit high stat applicants get first notice.

Most switch your status on the portal before sending you a notice.

One covert way to find out is to search Twitter for posts about a particular school. Lots of excited seniors post messages like #Got into SDSU! or # Going to SLO!
