I know UMD is rolling admissions, but when do they start sending the first out? If one applies before the priority deadline, when should one expect an admissions decision?

they say feb. 28th is when eveyrone who applied by DEC 1st will get an answer. i sent mine out nov. 22nd so im expecting it around end of feb.

ehh dunno, I'm just hoping that I don't have to end up at Maryland

WOA what the hell? dude i know PLENTY of ppl who go there, its my first choice school and seems awsome..where do u get off sayin somethin as ignorant as that ? u dont wanna go there...good for u..keep it to YOURSELF U ***.

Well that's why I don't want to go there, I live in MD and everyone goes there, I want to be a new place. I said exactly what I am thinking. I will only be going to Maryland if I get rejected by all my other schools. It's a good school but HPYSM are still my first choice.

OHHH ur one of those smartass ppl who think thier better then everyone else because they can get into "HPYSM" (which in itself is the gayest thing iv'e ever seen...an acronymn for the big colleges which is another way of saying "im better then you").

i didnt realize i was dealing with an honorable genious such as yourself ur majesty. please, feel free to critisize a good school just because u have credentials to get into bigger ones and say **** to ppl with your "I will only be going to Maryland if I get rejected by all my other schools." attitude.

my deepest apologies for allowing such a smart genoius and qualified person as yourself having to have any contact even through this forum from a lowly average person such as myself..please forgive me.

I'm sorry if I'm sounding all that but I have worked hard all four years to be near valedictorian spot in my competitive high school and I want to go to a college at those schools not just because of name, but because they have a great learning enviroment. I'm not saying that Maryland doesn't have one, in fact, you get just the same education there as like Harvard. I just want to go to a school where there will be a lot of competition, which drives me.

ohh ok, i got confused a lil bit, sry for gettin all ****ed off man. just blowin some steam off from other stuff today by myessin around on a online forum thingy lol.

But if I get a full ride I may consider because undergrad doesn't matter too much. What major do you think you wanna go into? I'm prob doing something Engineering related, which MD is also good at.

i was thinkin either Premed or Engineering...possibly engineering school while doing the premed progran along with it, i wonder if anyoen's even tried tht lol

Well I gues you can start off taking classes in both areas and see which you like better, and then focus on that one. Lots of people change their majors/focus as they learn more in college. Well good luck =)

Maryland isn't necessarily my first choice, either, but at this point I just want some kind of letter.

I'm actually more of a LAC kind of person (Dartmouth, Swarthmore, W&L and, compared to UMD, Harvard is kind of like a LAC in a way) but I visited UMD and I actually really liked it there. It's a possibility that I will attend, I guess, especially if some of the more competitive schools don't work out in the admissions process for me.

I was a little worried that HPYSM could be your favorite schools, forever21, (given that the similarities are...well...barely there in some cases), but if "competition" is your biggest criterion, then it makes sense. Good luck to you both.
