i've heard end of october is when the admissions office begins to review the applications.. is this true?

They say by november (that is the ideal time to turn things in)

The ideal time to turn things in is right now.

how many people on average do you think apply in August-October?

i've heard end of october is when the admissions office begins to review the applications.. is this true?

That is a bogus piece of crap. I applied in Sept. last yr and recieved notification a month later. Which means that not many people apply during august and sept but it picks up in oct all the way through feb. My friend applied late in the year and didn't receive notification till mid may after deferment and by that time he already had picked a different school. So my advice to you guys is apply now and don't put it off. Time's ticking!

They'll start to review them once September begins, assuming that apps are complete.

However, as I've explained ad nauseum on this forum, reviewing and sending out decisions are two separate things. Generally speaking, the admissions office does not begin making/sending decisions after mid-October.
