I have all my books except one that is being shipped to me at the end of the first week of classes. Is this too late? do you usually need your book in the first week? it's for a chem class.

I second his question :P

it depends on the prof but usually by the 2nd week you should have your books. I would recommend waiting to get your books until after your first lecture therefore you can get tips about them from your professor. Tips such as if you can use the old edition, where its the cheapest, sometimes when multiple books are said to be required the professor tells you one is not needed etc.

Hope that helps.

I'm a her btw.

lol well in my experience you don't always need the book.

For classes where the teacher uses power point presentations and gives homework on an online system (like LONCAPA or ILRN that doesn't refer to your text book ever), you don't actually need a book.

However, sometimes you have to do book work, in which case get your book asap. Also if it's a lit class or if you have a hard time understanding your instructor or the way they teach, or the subject itself, get the book asap so you don't get lost and stuck behind the lectures.

From what I remember of chem you don't need the book in the first week, but it was a helpful book to have when doing the LONCAPA hw. So don't worry. ^^
