I was just wondering how schools from all across the country work. In NYC, it used to be that you could just leave school once you had all the requirements(meaning you could get out..say 4th period since you didn't need anymore classes). They tried to steer away from that this year, but in my school, which doesn't have many classes(just 600 students, 400 high school students, half of them take remedial classes), you can get out early.

So what time do you get out and go to school.

In the fall semester I went into school at 8:10 and got out at 2:40. 8 periods, including lunch, and I had 3 electives back to back..which wasn't good.

In the spring semester however, I had been enrolled into College Now Hunter College, so I was able to take off my 8th period class(Dance), and move it around with an elective which I eliminated. Plus all NYC schools changed their schedule.

So now I go in at 8:40 and leave at 2:15. 7 periods, including lunch. Luckily I have enough credits to compensate, since I took a couple of regents in J.H.S. I still have to take the train for 2 hours each day though to get home and back...but that's a different story. And now you're rambling Danny. :D

Homeroom starts at 8:15, first period at 8:25...classes end at 3:00. My school is pretty strict with taking courses (we're only allowed to schedule one free period unless you're a second semester senior). Then, fourth quarter you can take independent study and drop all of your non-APs and do an internship, big project, etc.

Forgot to mention, I usually get to school anywhere form 7:15-7:40 depending on how quickly I get ready/traffic to do homework, chat, play chess (which is insanely popular nowadays), hang out in the comp lab (which is usually filled with seniors and one junior). I usually leave around 4:30-4:45 after track practice.

I get to school at 7:45 because my sister's school day starts earlier than mine. I spend half an hour doing homework in the library. It's convenient.

I start school 2nd period at 8:41 and end 9th period at 2:45. (I can't believe they added a minute to each period...). However, I only have 6 periods and 2 free periods/lunch.
With track, I usually get home around 6.

7:30 to 1:47
I guess we have a really short school day.
And there are two classes you can take 9th period (which I did for three years). Then you get out 2:34.
