Deviant, or otherwise absolutely crazy schools

As has been remarked upon, I go to a religious school and will be taking sixteen classes this year. My school is in NYC and it takes me an hour and a half to get there every morning.
Anyone else have weirdo school situations that make other CCers shout "Troll"? Shout out here!

I can’t believe you have sixteen classes! How does that even work? The most we’re technically “allowed” to take are 8 periods worth, but they let 12 students in the school take an extra course before school. I’m in it, so I have 10 courses total between two semester long courses, the before school course, and the year long classes.

That’s crazy!

Well, If you put it that way, I took…umm…yeah just 10, not counting a study hall both semesters. 8 periods in a day, some classes were semester long (there were two easy required classes that were a quarter each, so a semester total). So 16 is possible…but not going to happen at my school unless you tried for it.

How does 16 classes work? An hour and a half is crazy long too, but…NYC is monstrous.

School hours are 8:30 - 4:30 pm. Neighboring public schools dismiss at 2 pm.

hah, my school requires 15 classes for everyone… it’s about 34 hours/week. And lessons are till 6 p.m. I love that school.

Kakaouko: FINALLY, I’m not the only one! But luckily class isn’t til that late. Thank God. If it were I’d get home at 7:30 probably.

I’m only allowed to have 6 academic classes, and if you want to be a part of orchestra or band, or chorus, you can only take 5!! I can’t even imagine juggling more than that! (I’m taking 5 really difficult classes, but still I can’t imagine 10+)

I went 7:25-2:46, that’s…36 3/4 hours a week, typical of schools around me. Getting out at 2? Weird.

Sara: are you block schedule? Like 90 minute classes? A school nearby has four 90-minute classes each day (some electives aren’t as long).

I am in the same situation of soccersara122, we can only take six academic classes a year, seven if you take semester long classes (though there are no good semester long classes).
