When do you start studying for finals?

My final exams are 3 - 4 weeks from now.

I actually just finished midterms. I'm probably going to start studying for finals in about a week.

When is everyone else starting?

Now? lol. Well techinally we all been studying for it since the beginning of the year but yea with Thanksgiving coming up I want to start studying Saturday and try to relax over thanksgiving break and then I have a whole “dead week” where most lectures are stopped and students are free ALL week to study. Well technically you can do whatever you want but you would really want to study.

The day before

I study the week before, lol. The day before for classes I’m more confident in.

No more than 3 days before, tops. Any more than that and I wouldn’t remember a thing.

In the fall, never before Thanksgiving. It depends on the class, but probably a week before. Last spring for biochem I had big studying plans, and then the Boston bombings a week before finals really threw me off.

Start studying now.

Especially if you have math or science classes. Give yourself adequate time to build upon information and relearning material.

I have solely math and engineering classes, so I start as early as possible. Really it depends on how confident you are feeling about the class.

Study? I realized I needed to study starting today and finals are in 2 weeks. There’s that much information to know.

2-3 days beforehand.

Or if I think I got it, a couple of hours before.

This is my first semester in college, but in high school I usually started a couple days before for classes I was unsure of and the day of (or not at all) for classes I thought I had in the bag.

It depends on the class. I’m probably going to start reviewing for my calculus final over Thanksgiving break. My finals are still a few weeks off (Dec. 9-13), but I want to get going early. My chemistry, calculus, and physics finals are all comprehensive. My anthropology and Spanish finals aren’t comprehensive, so those finals won’t be as bad since they’re just over the material from the last section of the class. My Spanish professor said there would be a a few questions on the final from previous chapters relating to grammar and whatnot, but those are things we’ve been using all semester anyway…so it won’t really be “review.”

For calculus, physics and chemistry though, I’m going to get a jump on reviewing over Thanksgiving break, and spend as much time as I can in the week after break studying. I’ve got one week of classes after break, then finals the following week. The entire weekend before finals will be devoted to studying.

My Spanish final is actually going to be the week before finals week because we’re ahead of schedule. That’s going to be nice. That gives me one less test to worry about during finals week.
