When Does The Basketball Season Start?

I can't wait to go and see a Duke basketball game. So, when's the first one? And do students get free tickets? If so, how do they do it?

The first game is the Blue-White scrimmage, which takes place during Parent's Weekend. Students get one free ticket, but they have to pay for their parent's to get in... at least I think that's the case. After that, the first home game is a few weeks later, in mid-November. Student tickets are free for these games.

well...free of cost. for many games, if you want the best seats, you need to be in line at least a day in advance. yes, that means sleeping on concrete in the cold - it's great.

Next year's schedule...

Whether ssorman meant that sarcastically or not, I actually do miss it...ohh, Basketball season. You learn to love the freezing hell that is camping out/tenting/getting 2 hours of sleep outside on a sidewalk in nothing but a sleeping bag during a torrential rainstorm in February so you wake up and find yourself frozen, exhausted, hungover, and up to your chest in icy water just so you can stand in the front row and jump around like a screaming maniac watching Duke beat FSU 97-96 in overtime...

....did I mention that basketball becomes a minor obsession?

i was serious...it's amazing. some of my best memories ar from kville.

I have a question about tenting...how do you form a group? Like is it with people in your dorm? or with whoever you want?

You can go to basketball games with whomever you want. I usually went with people from my dorm because that was easiest... knock on the doors around mine and get a group together. Sometimes I went with kids I knew from Project BUILD, or other groups I was a part of. The problem for me was finding people to go early with... all of my friends were perfectly content with getting to the game 5 hours beforehand.

You'll find out plenty about the different line-up procedures as the basketball season draws nearer. There's a website where the Head Line Monitor posts information about what type of line formation will be allowed for which games, and all that good stuff.
