When does the film school accept/reject?

I was wondering how long after the general USC acceptance you hear from the film school. Some first wave admitted students on CC have already been accepted to the film school. What happens with students who are admitted to USC in the current wave of acceptances? Also, if you don't hear from the film school within a certain period of time after the general USC acceptance, does that mean you're rejected?

My s received the big admissions packet from USC on 1/26 (His status page STILL says 12/1) it included a letter (dated 1/23) of admission (yay!) and a second sheet titled: University of Southern California Official Admission Conditions and Information. That page listed the Term: Fall 2008, plus his Major, Class level: Freshman; School: School of Cinematic Arts; Degree Objective: Bachelor of Arts, and Pre-professional emphasis: None. So he knew right away that he got into the SCA and his major. Big celebrations!

About a week later S received a separate letter dated 1/31 from the School of Cinematic Arts which included a Confirmation Form to be returned by May 1 and was signed by the Chair of his Division. Perhaps each Division (Production, Critical Studies, et al) sends its own notifications?

So you definitely get find out where you stand right away. I don't know exactly what happens if you are accepted to USC but not the film school. Anyone know how that goes? Hope this was of help and best of luck.

Yikes! My impression was that some students were notified of their SCA admissions after receiving their USC acceptance. Is this not the case? Did anyone who was accepted into SCA this year hear from SCA after receiving their USC acceptance, or did they hear about both together, like madbean's son?

Nester - I think what you describe did happen last year, just based on my reading of some of the threads on the waves of admit letters. It seemed that some SCA students got admitted to USC but were waiting on SCA up to early April. If you're asking about this year, my sense is that there are very few who have actually been admitted to SCA so far; those who have appeared on CC are the applicants picked for scholarship interviews, like madbean's son. I assume they were all told at the same time, since SCA actually conducts the interviews for the scholarships.

You're not suggesting that YOU have been admitted to USC but are still waiting on film, are you? If so, that would be the first report of that situation for this year. What does your status say? My S is still at "completed preliminary review."

last year, My friend got into the film school at the end of march/early april.
he says that when all the film kids find out.
