When does USC's RD decisions come out?

So, as stated in the title, when does the RD decisions come out? Nobody seems to be interested in RD, apparently there is no thread about RD decisions, and I'm very curious as to when USC will notify its RD applicants so I just made a new thread. Anyone has any idea?

USC does not have an early decision option, although major scholarship winners have already been notified. All other applicants will be notified in several waves in March, but almost all accepted applicants are notified by April 1 (then rejections go out).

so there are actually “waves” throughout this month? If so, do you know approximately when the first one will be? It’s almost mid-march now, and nobody seems to have heard back yet, except those lucky scholarship recipients.

Somewhere in one of these USC threads someone said that USC was going to mail all decisions at one go on/about March 20, which is a departure from previous years’ protocol.

^yep, thats what alamemom heard, and shes our most reliable source. If March 20th is true, does that mean all decisions go out on the 20th or only the acceptances?

I would guess just acceptances, as in the past years, rejections went out later. But then again, since they are following a new procedure, we are all in uncharted territory.

Yes, as you knowledgeable posters have mentioned, in the past there were waves from the end of February to April 1st, but several posters mentioned that on USC tours in December and January the admissions reps told them there would not be waves this year - just one big mailing “around” March 20th.

As we have not seen any acceptances since the end of January, it seems those reports were correct.

There was no mention of the rejections - whether they would be last as in past years or with the acceptances. Like anxiousenior, I am guessing they will be later (though I kind of hope they send them out together - that week-and-a-half of waiting while everyone else gets their acceptances will be torturous :frowning: for those who get bad news).

And - based entirely on my hunch with nothing to back it up - I think the acceptances will be a bit earlier than the 20th. UCLA released on the 12th last year, and my hunch is that USC will try to meet or beat UCLA to build excitement and keep applicants from bonding with that cross-town rival  . If USC follows their Friday mailing pattern from previous years, the LA area could see packages this Saturday (the 11th) or next Saturday (the 19th).

I keep checking in here and hoping it is TODAY! If anyone hears, be sure to post on the stats thread and get the excitement going http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1074764-usc-fall-2011-stats-only-decisions.html?highlight=stats+only+2011+decisions

BEST OF LUCK!

When I got my acceptance mailer, it was around the last week of March – actually, I think it was literally the LAST day of March! (I remember someone I knew heard in February, so I was getting very nervous.)

So, don’t get too scared if it’s March 29th and you haven’t heard. (I lived in the Bay Area, so the package couldn’t have taken that long to travel 300 miles.)

This Saturday is exactly a year ago that my son received his packet. I have the same hunch as Alamemom.

Anyone here get asked for mid-term grades or a letter not qualifying for top scholarships but still eligible for others??? I am hoping this is a sign they are seriously considering my son for admission…keeping my fingers crossed for him in Minnesota!!! Madison, Duke and UC are his dream schools!!

Judyjim,

As to the “no huge scholarships but other scholarships still available” letter, all applicants applying by Dec. 1 who didn’t get selected for the huge scholarships got that. As far as the request for mid-year grades, it is typically considered to be a minor good sign but many rejects also get that letter.

If acceptance letters were going out on Friday, shouldn’t we notice that our statuses are changing or at least some are?

^^^My thoughts exactly^^^

Shouldn’t we be getting a status change?

I have heard that the statuses online don’t change. We all get our decision notifications through post so the online status won’t reflect the decision.

I was accepted in the scholarship wave this year and my online status still says “you will receive a decision by April 1” …

I originally had an update that said we would like to see your midterm grades (my school sent them back in February) and now it says you will know by April 1st.

Finding out this week would be awesome!!!

^Same. I’ve been in for months and the status still says, “we have received your application.” So I wouldn’t read too much into status changes.

I remember reading that the tour person said that all decisions-acceptances and rejections-would go out around March 20. Since the 20th is a Sunday, I’m guessing it’ll be the 18th.

A good friend of my S, at the same HS in Southern CA, got a letter of acceptance today saying he was admitted to the film school.

did he apply for the scholarship or regular deadline, jshain?
