100/700 rank

Every course in my schedule is AP or honors. I am also an Eagle Scout, and have lots of volunteer experience in my community. I am active in a few clubs at school and play guitar in the church band. If it matters, I am a middle class white male. How do I stack up? When does UT release admissions decisions?

Dan, everything looks good but your class rank, which could be a problem. UT has to admit all instate students who apply and are top 10%, and they will fill up much of the admitted class. From what I have heard, only top ranking out of state kids have heard early, and with your class rank, you will most likely not hear anything until later spring when they know how their class is filling. Even instate people with your stats are having to wait, and many will not be accepted (you can read back through the archives to see what kinds of stats got accepted and rejected). I don't want to be a downer, but it may be a long shot, but you never know!! I'm sure you have many other options with your good stats! Good luck to you!!

Will UT take in to account that my HS (Stockdale High) is ranked 591 out of the 30000 high schools in the US? Also, how can I access the back archives?

This is kind of disconcerting. I thought that with a 30 ACT (4 points above the UT average), a 4.0 GPA and Eagle Scout I'd be a shoe-in for a large state school. Guess I'll just have to cross my fingers and wait till March/April!

Hey, you never know! Your application looks really good, it's just Texas is really weirdly numbers driven right now. I am curious to see how many accepted kids are Texas top 10%ers. When my older son applied 2 years ago, he got in, and he wasn't top 10%. I think about 65% of the class was, whereas, I believe last year it was over 75% (I'd have to check the numbers). Anyway, the trend is showing that the percentage of top 10% Texas kids is growing and UT could get to a point that the entire class is made up of the (entirely arbitrary) top 10% kids.

I wish you the best of luck! Hopefully you will end up at UT!

What's your intended major? If it's not Business, I'd say you are in. Otherwise, it could go either way. Your stats are good, and that Eagle Scout badge is a diamond for your application.

You will most likely have to wait until spring, that's when UT seems to send out decisions for non-auto admits, especially since you are out of state.

Non top 10% kids are starting to hear, so you should hear something sometime soon. It also means that there are definitely spots open. Good luck!!
