I know they say April 1st but I have heard that it could be a month or two earlier. Does anyone know from previous years?
Last year it was around the last week of February if I recall correctly. I wish they would just give us the decisions ASAP. It’s not like they actually take the time to read applications like UCs; our stats are simply put through an algorithm that decides whether or not we’re in. Theoretically, our decisions can be determined in minutes so I hate how long it takes for them to get back to us.
Based on past years, SLO starts around Mid-February with admission decisions. Usually OOS applicants hear first, then in-state applicants. Up until last year they did it alphabetically by Colleges so they would start with the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science. Last year, the order of acceptances were scattered. Waitlisted students will come next usually around end of February/Early March followed by rejections. Again, this was the pattern up until last year, but the rejections always come last.
@venm1337, they can determine the MCA cutoff quickly, but then they actually hand calculate GPAs from transcripts for all students above the cutoff before offering acceptance. It takes time to get transcripts and to do the calcs.
@eyemgh Aren’t transcripts sent after someone SIRs? So the only grades they have are self reported from the application?
@10s4life, my understanding is that they don’t go through the process until they’ve established the cutoff, and only then do they recalculate GPAs. Prior to that, they go off the self reported GPA. I don’t have that on any authority though, only what I’ve read here.
@eyemgh that’s good to know. The UCs purely go off of the self reported ones and simply revoke admission when the transcripts come if there are discrepancies.
@10s4life, again, I’m no authority on that. CP MIGHT do it that way too. I’m only parroting what I’ve seen written here. Don’t take it as gospel. It’s pretty soft data.
