When filling out the application...(Honors College)

Can you check the little box that says:

"check here if you wish to be considered for admission into the LSU Honors College. Your application will be sent to the Honors College for additional admission review"

and still be considered for normal admission as well? This doesn't mean you're only applying to the Honors College, or is it binding?

Thanks for any help!

You will be considered for both the Normal Admission AND also the HONORS College. (Unless you have a separate Application for the Honors College). Hope this helps.

ok thanks alot. I figure I’ll just try for both in case I become more interested in the Honors college. I don’t really know much about it at this point.

If you have the scores to be accepted to the honors college, I recommend giving it a shot. Even if you don’t graduate with honors or get the sophomore honors distinction, just being listed as a member gives you priority scheduling and some nice class alternatives. For instance, the honors gen arts classes are much better than the regular ones because they are small, discussion classes focused on specific topics rather than huge boring lectures on general topics you don’t care about.

Wait, does LSU view your senior year grades if you apply early (by Nov 15)?

No, they only consider a six-semester transcript and SAT/ACT scores

^ Wait, so let me get this straight. I can fail all of my classes senior year (not that I plan on it), and LSU will NOT know about it b/c there is no midyear report?

Thanks in advance.

It shouldn’t, although the application asks for your senior year schedule and will most likely request your final transcript. But the main application relies almost exclusively on those first 3 years

^ Would they consider your senior year grades for scholarships?

i would bet that if you failed multiple classes in your senior year, you would be rescinded after they see your final transcripts.
