When grading AP Practice exams with the old guessing penalty,

When you grade the past exams/practice tests that gives the curve for the old guessing penalty, does it really matter if you still use the guessing penalty curve to grade it? Because the newer exams would just curve accordingly, so the penalized score of 4 from old exam=score of 4 from a current test.

Seems simple, but just want to double check with CC.

They released scoring guidelines that (I’m assuming) compensate for the change:
[AP Central - Multiple-Choice Scores](<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board)

Ahh thanks for the link, should be helpful.

But specifically my question is:

guess penalized score of 4 with old curve from old exam=score of 4 from a current test with new curve

If ^ that is true, then what is the point of new guidelines? Wouldn’t the new test just be curved accordingly?

^Exactly… I don’t understand why teachers and students don’t understand that simple fact.

If its true, than whats with the new curves for the past tests? :(

people in my class were cheering (-____-) when they learned about the no penalty for guessing rule…but yea I thought that this was too good to be true.
It will not nec. be easier to get a 4 or 5 this year right?

^someone answer this please, especially in regards to getting a 5
