When/How do we see our individual rooms?

I got assigned to McConnell hall, and my question is, how do they assign the specific rooms? meaning, is there a benefit to arriving early for move-in day to grab the best rooms, or does it not matter?

I understand payment for Wi-Fi is sometime mid-august, and we need to register our rooms for it. So I imagine we should find our room number before school starts?

.. also, 50 bucks/months, wow...

also unrelatedly, when exactly does orientation week start, and how long do parents usually stay for? what day should they leave?

We have to pay for wifi? If so, those prices are outrageous! I’d much rather pick up my own wifi system in the city for a cheaper price

Room assignments are done by the floor fellows before you arrive. There’s no benefit to arriving first-thing in the morning versus a more reasonable hour.

Here’s what I found online regarding first-year orientation schedules. Frosh and program-specific orientations will probably be somewhere in there as well.

[Fall Orientation | First-Year Office - McGill University](http://www.mcgill.ca/firstyear/undergrad-students/week)

Because tuition is so cheap, pretty much every other fee is blown to hyperbolic proportions (food, rent, and yes, internet.) If you’re living in rez, you won’t be able to sign on for any internet service besides McGill’s. If it’s any consolation, it is pretty darn fast and reliable (and no VPNs required for library access!)
