I saw that I replied to threads that date to this summer. My post led to them being locked. Is there an age limit on threads worth replying to? My apologies for bumping those threads.
If the thread is open, it can be replied to.
Whether it should be replied to is a different story. If the question in the original post is time-sensitive and the thread is a few months old, the OP likely made a decision already.
