When is Move-in Day 2012?

Does anyone know where a calendar is for next year?

August 18th

Move-In Guide:

That second link just got me so pumped for college you won’t believe, 4 months baby let’s go

BTW, if you coming a long distance know that you can request to move in the day before. That may be helpful if get get in the day before and want to (at least) unload the car so all your worldly possessions aren’t in a hotel parking lot! You do the request through VIP and they ask for a reason selected from list. We had to do this last year because of a family wedding on move in day. The reason we selected was convenience. You do have to give a time, but I didn’t hear of anyone being turned down for early move in and there were a good many people there.

Tell me about it!

scmom12- do you have any idea how to get to this on vip?
I am from NJ so it would be great if i could move in early but i couldnt find it on vip

You have plenty of time before you need to worry about that, trust me. It won’t even be available on VIP for months.

Yeah. They allow Early Move-In for most dorms. I don’t think they allowed it for a couple (like Bates and Patterson, I think). But a lot of people did that.

Move-in really sucks if you’re in a bigger dorm, but where I was, it was the most painless process ever. I was expecting tons of waiting and chaos, but I didn’t encounter any of that.

its under housing but probably won’t be available until housing is assigned since (as someone pointed out) some dorms don’t allow it. I think we signed up in June.

This is really good to know.

We were thinking of coming to town on the 17th, since we are flying down and planning to pick up stuff down there rather than trying to lug everything on the plane.

Everyone may know this…I think you can pick out your stuff at Bed Bath and Beyond whereever you are and then have it waiting for you in Columbia when you get here. Just saves time and more selection…

We did this last year… it was so convenient! They gave us a scanner & asked which store we’d like to pick up from and when, then we just went through the store & scanned the things we were interested in. If your pick-up store doesn’t have the item you scanned, they will ship it to the store for free. And the most important thing to know about this service – you don’t pay until you pick up the items, and if you change your mind about purchasing anything on your list you are free to put it back.

I’m sure this info is on the website, but there are several BB&B locations. Closest to USC is on Garners Ferry Road and there is also a Target in same location. There are two Walmarts within 10 min of these stores.

the BB&B location on garners ferry rd was by far the more accessible, helpful and quieter of the locations.we had an issue with the pickup order… Home store location had shipped it wrong…they cheerfully repicked the entire order for us. ditto with Target location as opposed to Harbison Rd. I do recall needing to go to Harbison for best Buy.

the early move in option will pop up on VIP or on the home page for housing probably in June.S was originally just going to drop his stuff the day before and stay in the hotel overnight but so many kids were moving in early (this was Honors) that he changed his mind and stayed there.
