Move in day is coming up, (well in a little over a month- I'm just really excited) so I was wondering if anyone has any move in day tips for me or information about Carolina's move in day. Any information will be great thanks :)

P.s: I'm in McClintock :) so excited!

Very lightweight clothes, deoderant, Gatorade, a bottle of patience and a prayer of thanks for those wonderful old trees!

It would help if you have at least three people – one to stay with the car and two to “schlep”. If you have a hand cart from home, it can’t hurt. Remember, unless you’re really far away, you don’t need to bring winter clothes and coats from day one – you’ll be back at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It actually moves fairly well – the school had it well coordinated when we moved in. Just be prepared to wait and take turns.

Best of luck and I hope you love Carolina as much as my daughter did!!

Loved living on women’s quad (long time ago). From USC housing site you can find link to move-in guide. I doubt mcclintock has staggered move in since only a few floors, so I say come early. If temps are in the high 90s/100, then any shot of not roasting ends about 11 am:) If you are from out of town and coming in the day before, you can go on VIP and request Friday move-in. Start doing lunges to prepare your legs for hauling stuff up the stairs since elevator (if there is one) will be slow!!

^I believe that they staggered move-in this coming year for every dorm. Even Woodrow, which only has about 100 people has staggered move-in. Kind of bizarre. I was in Maxcy last year with no staggered move-in and absolutely no trouble.

I’ve also heard that this year there is not a form on VIP to fill out for early move-in. You’re supposed to call Housing for information.

Coordinate with your roommate! It’ll probably be better for one of you to get there a little earlier than the other so that there’s not four (or more) people all trying to move in a year’s worth of stuff all at once. I know last year it definitely helped for me to get there about an hour or two after my roommate. Her parents and sister were still there helping her setup, but we weren’t trying to move-in both of us at the same time, so it really helped free up some room to move around.

Your best bet is to check the Move-In Guide. It’s pretty informative and tells you everything you need to know. Good luck! :)

Freshmen who “Like” this facebook page will be sent instructions for moving in on Friday, August 17. Supposedly, less traffic, more parking, and few lines at the elevators.

Evidently if you Like the facebook page, you will receive a message that says “please call an Assignment Coordinator at 803-777-4283 to found out details about early arrivals.”

DD got a postcard in the mail about it, I don’t think it is just from Facebook.

Thanks everyone (:
