So school is coming up in a few weeks and ill be a senior. I want to apply for college in the fall and when is it the best time to apply? Is it around October or September? Because I was looking at fall admissions and it said may 1st, what does it mean? Does it mean that I have to apply before may 1st 2014?

Many regular decision deadlines are December 1 to February 1. You want to be done with EVERYTHING by then - meaning tests, getting rec letters, writing essay after essay, etc. The best time to start the process is NOW. Get a head start, get a list of schools, look at their requirements, see if their applications are up, and use your time wisely.

My ACT scores arent that good who would accept me with a score of 16. Well is it possible for my counselors to help me with the application because my parents aren’t very good with English? I was thinking of applying to some 4-year and CC

You need to look at the website for each college you are considering. Deadlines will be listed very clearly. It is very unlikely that any school has a May 1st deadline. Usually everything is long over by then.

Schools with rolling admissions are accepting applications now.

Some schools have early deadlines for ED and EA applicants or to be considered for scholarships.

For your 2nd question, start a new thread with a new title, so people will see the new question.

Oh ok but my cousin apply to school around October is that late to apply or is November really late to apply?

It depends on each school’s deadlines… Yes, your counselors can help you. Have you tried to bring up that ACT score though? That’s below the national average.

No not yet that was my first ACT test I have taken, i know the average score is 21.But most to my friends applied around October and yet in late November and some others applied early because of the deadline that was coming up. And I was looking at a Community college when to apply and it said “Applicants for fall admission are encouraged to complete admissions procedures prior to May 1. This enables the college to process applications and notify applicants of admissions decisions on a timely basis.” I’m not sure what it means
