i registered to take the SAT in may but so many people are saying to take both the SAT and ACT. i am a junior and there are no available ACT test dates until my senior year. is it a bad idea to take the ACT then? or should i just not take it at all?

i actually never planned on taking the ACT until i kept reading about how students SHOULD take both and see how they do. now i don't know...
if ill do better on the ACT i might, but i'm not too comfortable either because that's just something else i have to stress about.

Hey,
I don't know too much about the ACT, but if there are no dates until your senior year, maybe you should wait until you get your SAT scores back and see how you did (it's usually only about 3 weeks after the test that you get the scores back, so you can probably still sign up for the ACT at the beginning of June if need be). If you did well, then don't worry about it.

Also, check out the ACT format and see if that seems easier or the questions make more sense. If that's true, it might be worth taking. Otherwise, again, don't worry about it.

Honestly, there's no NEED for you to, unless you truly feel you do less well on the SAT and better on the ACT. Do a little more research before you start getting stressed. ;)

I'm in your year, and I took the SAT. I'm planning to take it again to get my scores up a bit, but I don't think I'm going to bother with the ACT. The scores are often pretty similar, unless you can't get your mind around one test or the other. I've heard of some kids who did much better on the ACT, but they told me that was partly because they found the SAT format and wording confusing.

Anyway, just my two cents, but I would wait until you've taken the SAT and gotten the scores before you sign up. Tests are never fun...so why put yourself through it if it isn't necessary?
Good luck!
