When is the deadline for scholarship consideration at UVa?

I've been searching everywhere for the answer, so I'm sorry if I missed it!

I'm an out-of-state student and I would absolutely love to attend the University of Virginia. Unfortunately, I missed the early action deadline and I can't afford tuition without help :( was the early action deadline also the deadline for scholarship consideration?

I have not yet submitted my application.
What are my options?

The deadline to file financial aid paperwork is March 1. The aid process allocates the vast majority of the money in this process. There are a few scholarships that aren’t administered by the aid office. There isn’t a special application deadline for any of those, though some require extra information to be sent once you are part of their process. You can see more info here:
[Outreach Financial Resources | Office of Undergraduate Admission](http://admission.virginia.edu/outreach/financial)

Check out the financial aid part of the UVa website for deadline for submitting required info for need-based financial aid. Be sure to look at the info for new incoming students, as opposed to returning students. UVa does enforce its financial aid info deadlines. Start collecting the needed info a couple months in advance. UVa meets 100% of the proven need for US undergrad students, so most out of state families (except wealthy ones) are eligible for UVa aid.

There is very little merit based aid at UVa for incoming students. You can look up the deadline for the Jefferson Scholarships, which are run by a private foundation. They are extremely competitive.

UVa does not offer merit aid. The Jefferson Foundation, a separate entity from the university, does offer highly competitive scholarships. You are nominated by your high school, or if not attending a participating high school a few ‘at large’ candidates are selected by admissions from the EA applicant pool.

You can read more about The Jefferson Scholarships using the search feature on this forum, or here:

Edit: Wow, all that Thanksgiving food made my notoriously slow typing even slower! I crossed posts with both Charlie and Dean J!

Here in NC, many colleges say “Must apply by early action to be considered for competitive merit-based scholarships.” I wasn’t aware UVa doesn’t work the same way…no wonder I couldn’t find a deadline!

Thank you all!
