I’m currently a freshmen at UCSC planning on applying this fall to transfer to another UC campus. My current major is Computer Engineering and I hope to apply as the same major to UCSD, UCLA, and UCB. For UCLA, I have contacted their CE department about the required major prep courses and they responded:
"The following UCSC courses are all required for admission as a transfer to Computer Engineering. Missing even one of these will likely result in a denial.
Math 19A, 19B, 21, 23A, 23B, 24
Physics 5A/L, 5B/M, 5C/N
CMPS 5C
WRIT 1, 2
At least one GE course outside of the sciences"
Although I understand that I have until the end of spring quarter prior to fall enrollment to complete all these courses, how important is it to complete them by the end of this upcoming fall quarter in order to be a competitive applicant? Due to UCSC course offerings I cannot take Physics 5A/L until this fall, and subsequently, Physics 5B/M and Physics 5C/N until winter and spring. Would completing these two physics courses after this upcoming fall quarter greatly affect my chances for admission? I will be able to complete all the other courses listed by the end of the fall quarter in which I apply - its just these two physics courses I am unable to take until winter and spring.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You!
