I want to apply for colleges at the regulartime. That is the end of the first semester of Sr. year, RIGHT?

What are the appropriate times that you should take SATs and ACT?

I plan on taking SAT I, SAT II: USH, and the ACT.

What are the appropriate times that you should take SATs and ACT?

I plan on taking SAT I, SAT II: USH, and the ACT.

Also how long does it take for results to come in?

Hope you pick up this late response: take the SAT I and the ACT asap, so you'll have plenty of time to retake them. Most kids inevitably improve the second time. Senior year fall is very hectic with apps, classes, etc. SAT IIs are usually taken right at the end of the applicable courses, usually June. My D took US History last June, then retook it in October, went up 50 points with a bit of study.

Oh so you don't have to have your SAT results by the time you send an application?

You need to have taken the SAT by the application deadline (most colleges accept the November test for EA/ED and the December for RD). As for when to take the other tests, maryc's advice is good. Many people take the SAT/ACT for the first time in the spring of their junior year. This gives them a couple more chances to take the test (and time to study for it) if they aren't happy with their scores. SAT II's should be taken right after you take a certain class. This is especially true if you are taking SAT II's for any of your AP subjects (for example, if you are taking AP USH and the SAT II: USH) because most of the material is the same and it will be fresh on your mind right after the AP exams in May.

I'm going to assume that you are a junior. I would suggest taking the SAT I the first time in March to give yourself a bit of time to prep. Then take your SAT II's in June. I would take 2 or 3 at this time though because most schools that require SAT II's need 2 or 3. Then take the SAT I again in October. If you are still not happy with your scores you have two more chances, November and December, to improve either your SAT I or SAT II scores.

As for the ACT, you can take that as many times as you want. The reason being is that you get to choose which scores to send to the colleges that you are applying to. However, don't use this as an excuse to not do any prep.

Can the SAT IIs be taken before the main SAT? I'll have finished my AP classes before I've gotten all that far with SAT studying and tutoring.

Yes - the order of the tests doesn't matter
