I’m currently in my second year of college. I came in with a full semester of credits from HS and by taking 18 credits a semester and a few winter term courses, I should be able to graduate in May 2019.
I have a close group of friends who I mentioned this to once, but it was quickly swept under the rug because they firmly believe no one actually graduates early (even though several people in my major are able to do so).
I just wanna know when the appropriate time to tell them is. They don’t have many friends outside of me and I don’t want to blindside them by telling them the semester I graduate, but I also don’t want to tell them too soon and face criticism really early on. Any tips?
Tell them when you get the details for your commencement which is usually midway through your final semester. Or you can tell them when you apply for graduation, the beginning of the last semester when advisor does your audit.
During your last semester.
However depending on what you plan on doing after graduating, use your time to go study abroad for a semester, perhaps do a co-op for a semester, rather than graduate early.
First you need to be absolutely positively certain you will graduate early. Then I would let them know the later of: 1) your last semester or 2) whenever housing for their senior year is being organized and you know you won’t be there.
