i'm currently a senior in high school and i'm gonna go to texas a&m. i wanted to know after how many years i should try to transfer to michigan. also, if i transfer after my freshman year, what would michigan mainly look at and how hard is it to transfer successfully? thanks!

I’m five days late. Sorry. :s

Most transfer students go to U of M after two years. If you transfer after your freshman year (like I did), they look at your high school GPA, extra curricular, etc (They only accept “stellar” freshman transfers according to the admissions office) as well as your college GPA. Remember, even if you’re transferring after two years, you still need to mail U of M your high school transcripts. Those who transfer after one year are…uncommon because they want to see the “experience” you’ve gained while you were at a different college and two years usually shows them your work ethic.

If you’re out of state, I would highly recommend applying early if you really want to transfer after one year. Also, get good grades and write amazing essays. It might give them a hint that you’re interested. They might pick someone in-state over someone OOS. In the worst case scenario, you still have one more year to try if you’re still interested in U of M.

Oh, another thing. When you’re picking classes, please pick classes that transfer or are relevant. It becomes a hassle when you find out that one of your classes wasn’t worth taking.

alright, thanks
