When taking the ACT does the writing section matter?

Should you take it or just the composite?

take da wrighting i think they require

Yes, you must take it. ACT Writing Test : College's Decisions
Go there to make sure.

Take the writing.

But I think it's like their policy for the SAT, in that they don't factor your writing score into your decision. They're just compiling writing scores to get a range of how Vandy students do on the writing, so when they DO factor writing, they'll know how to compare.

That's what the admissions person told us at our tour this summer. Take the test but don't worry about the score.

Ok, that is what I was hoping. I took it but didn't do as well as I had hoped and was concerned that could hurt me.

I think not so much. My daughter was admitted last year with a 33 composite (but an 8 on the writing section). She's actually a very good writer, it just didn't translate to the test.

The better the school, the more demanding the testing. I'd be surprised if Vandy doesn't want the writing.
