When a school asks for a photo would it be better to post a professional portrait or a snapshot of you accomplishing something in your applications?
I, for example, am an accomplished ballerina and the company photographer has several nice close-up shots of me performing. Ballet is a huge time commitment (3-4 hours, 6 days a week) and heavily represented in my application. Is such a shot too "out there"?

i think that would be a great picture.

I have an application that asks for a picture and I found myself wondering the same thing. I think it would be more interesting to have a non-professional photo, or in your case doing something you love to do. I would think that graduation pictures would become boring to look at, unless they are fresh. Sure, it's not a really a big deal, but might as well do something a little interesting with it.

that's what i thought ...

the picture is merely for identification purpose, so keep it simple
