So, I've found a coop I think I'd like to do. The program accepts applications during second semester of freshman year and first semester of sophomore year.

This semester was mostly a chance to get myself familiar with college. I didn't take any courses directly in my major and my grades (while not bad) aren't perfect. Next semester, though, I'll be in at least two very useful courses and I'll have a chance to dedicate myself fully to the subject.

It seems like it would be smart to apply next fall. I'll have some valuable skills to put on my resume - I can learn more over the summer too - plus a higher GPA. Is that right? Or would I be at a disadvantage if I don't apply this spring?

I think the program is pretty competitive.

This is CS-related, BTW.
