when to apply? standard or gap year?

hi
i was just wondering whether it would be more beneficial to apply before your external examinations with predicted scores or take a gap year and submit your actual scores.
Any opinions are welcome.
Thanks in advance

Are you definitely taking the gap year?

If No, then you have to apply now so you have a place to study next year.

If Yes, then this can wait, but it doesn’t have to. If you are accepted, you can ask to defer enrollment until after the gap year. If you think that your gap year experience will influence your eventual career goals, and may change the list of colleges/universities that you want to apply to, then you should probably wait until next year to apply.

Wishing you all the best!

S applied to college during his gap year as an Americorps volunteer. The colleges he decided to apply to were very different than what he had considered before. His gap year gave him good insights into himself and what careers/environments he liked best. The experinece also gave him a stronger app and more maturity.

oops i forgot to mention that here in New Zealand, the results of my external examinations don’t come out until early feb, so the decision i need to make is whether (for next year) i should apply like November/december with predicted scores or just take a year wait to get my results back and then post them off with the application?
Thanks
